Christmas Ginger Hot Chocolate

San Carlos Whole Cane Sugar (Panela)

Christmas time is in the air again, that is why San Carlos Sugar presents a new recipe for Christmas Hot Chocolate with ginger for enjoying with your family.❤️

Ingredients:

For the ginger syrup:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 ½ cups SAN CARLOS WHOLE CANE SUGAR
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tablespoon freshly ground ginger
  • 4 allspice berries
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 orange peel strip
For the chocolate:
  • 2 cups milk
  • 85 g unsweetened chocolate
  • ⅓ cup ginger syrup
  • 2 tablespoons SAN CARLOS WHOLE CANE SUGAR
  • 1 pinch of salt

Preparation:

For the ginger syrup:
  • Add all the ingredients to a saucepan and dissolve SAN CARLOS WHOLE CANE SUGAR over medium-low fire.⁣
  • Turn off heat once the syrup is cooked.
  • Put the lid on the pan, let the syrup infuse until cool.
  • Strain the syrup and store in a glass bowl for later. ⁣
For the chocolate:
  • Add milk and SAN CARLOS WHOLE CANE SUGAR to a saucepan over medium heat. When warm, add chocolate and stir until dissolved, add 1/3 cups ginger syrup.⁣
  • Decorate with whipped cream and enjoy.
